Description:
M98 is a nearly edge on spiral galaxy in the Virgo cluster.   Telescopically it resembles a thin elongated glow with a star-like nucleus.   A larger telescope and dark skies will begin to reveal subtle detail.   In photographs, the nucleus is reddened by obscuring dust from M98's spiral arms.   M98 is one of the few Virgo Cluster members that is approaching us instead of receding.
