Description:
M94 is a bright spiral galaxy, visible in binoculars.   Telescopically it has a bright spherical core surrounded by a fainter oval halo.   Large amateur telescopes might begin to reveal a hint of spiral structure.   Photographs reveal a tightly wrapped spiral, surrounded by a ring of bright young stars.   These may be the result of a collision which compressed gas in the galaxy and initiated starburst.
