Description:
M47 is a large cluster containing a myriad of bright and faint members arranged more sparsely than nearby M46.   The two clusters along with NGC 2423 provide a nice contrast when seen in binoculars or a telescope under low power.   The random arrangement of this open cluster makes for interesting patterns.
