Description:
A large and sparse open cluster containing about 30 stars.   M39 is a fine sight in binoculars with a dozen or so members easily resolved.   Because of its large angular size (½°), M39 is best viewed under low magnification.   The beauty of this cluster lies in the uniformity of color and distribution of its brighter members.
