Description:
A large, bright, but not easily resolved globular cluster.   In contrast to other globulars, M14 does not brighten noticeably towards its center.   It may be seen through binoculars as a soft hazy object, but a large telescope is needed to begin to resolve the core.   In 1964, analysis of 25 year old photographs revealed a nova in M14, the first nova ever photographed in a globular cluster.
